This section describes how to replace the front wheel sensor wires. Since a special tool and wire connectors are required to replace the rear wheel sensor wires, it is recommended that this work be carried out at a service station.
1. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
2. On 1.9L 74kW diesel models, remove the air intake duct and the hose between the engine intake pipe and the upper air duct.
3. Pull out latch 2 (see fig. Disconnecting the block from the ABS control unit) blocks and, pulling up, disconnect block 3 from control unit 1.
4. Screwdriver 2 (see fig. Removing the terminal block cover), remove cover 3 pads.
5. Screwdriver 3 (see fig. Disconnecting the wiring harness from the ABS control unit block) move the purple lock 2 in the direction of the arrow to release the wires in the block.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness.
7. Push the appropriate wires out of the block. Contact numbers are shown in fig. Contact numbering (1–42) connection block of the ABS control unit and in table. Circuits connected to the contacts of the block.
8. Remove the corresponding wheel.
9. Disconnect block 1 (see fig. Fastening of a wire of the gauge of frequency of rotation of a forward wheel) with wires from the wheel speed sensor.
10. Remove wire 3 from holders 2.
11. Install the wire in reverse order.
12. After fixing the wire in the holders, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and left to make sure that the wire does not stretch or cling to anything.
13. When connecting the wire to the block of the control unit, make sure that the insulation of the wire is inserted all the way into the hole in the block. Fix the braid of the wiring harness with new clamps.
