Engine Speed Sensor 1.0L, 37kW and 1.4L, 50kW
1 – sensor; 2 - connecting block
If the sensor fails while the engine is running, the engine will immediately stop. If restarted, the engine control unit will replace the signal from the crankshaft speed sensor with the signal from the camshaft position sensor - in this case, the engine will run at an increased idle speed.
Examination
1. Disconnect block 2 (see fig. Engine Speed Sensor 1.0L, 37kW and 1.4L, 50kW) with wires from crankshaft speed sensor 1.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the sensor contacts - it should show a resistance of 400–640 ohms at a temperature of 20°C (as the temperature of the sensor increases, its resistance increases).
3. If the ohmmeter shows a value higher than specified, replace the sensor.
