Special wheel mounting kit («secret»)
1 - special bolt; 2 - key
Attention! Loosen the wheel bolts and tighten them only with the vehicle on the ground.
Attention! Do not lubricate the wheel bolts - this can lead to their spontaneous loosening while driving.
A set of special wheel bolts 1 with wrench 2 can be purchased from spare parts stores or Skoda service stations («secret»). These bolts are installed one for each wheel (instead of the stock bolt) to make unauthorized wheel removal difficult. A code is stamped on the head of the key, by which you can order a new key in case it is lost. The tightening torque of the special bolts is 120 Nm. If you apply more torque, you can damage the bolt and key.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and place chocks under the wheels. If you change the front wheels, apply the parking brake to the vehicle.
2. Open the trunk lid and fold down the niche cover.
3. Open the cover 1 of the tool box and unscrew the special fixing bolt 4. Then remove the tool box 2 and spare wheel 3 from the boot.
4. Insert a special wire puller 2 into the hole of the wheel cap 4, thread the wheel wrench 1 into it and, resting the wrench on the tire 3, pull the cap off the wheel. On models with cast wheels, remove the protective caps from the heads of the wheel bolts.
5. Use a wheel wrench to loosen the wheel bolts. It may take a lot of effort to do this.
6. Jack up and raise the car (see subsection 1.49).
7. Completely unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the wheel.
8. Install the spare wheel. Screw in the wheel bolts without tightening them completely.
9. Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts evenly diagonally to 120 Nm.
10. Check tire pressure and top up if necessary.
Attention! Have the replaced wheel repaired as soon as possible.
