Engines 1.0 l 37 kW and 1.4 l 50 kW | 4,4 |
Engines 1.4 l, 55 kW and 74 kW | 3,2 |
Fill the system with oils that comply with the VW 500 00, VW 501 01 and VW 502 00 standards.
1. Park the vehicle on a level, level ground.
2. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.
3. Remove cap 1 (see fig. Parts of the engine lubrication system 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW) or 6 (see fig. Details of the engine lubrication system 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW) oil filler neck.
4. Remove the engine splash shield.
5. Unscrew plug 15 (see fig. Parts of the engine lubrication system 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW) or 29 (see fig. Details of the engine lubrication system 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW) drain hole on the crankcase, after substituting a container under it, and drain the used oil.
6. Screw in the plug, replacing the O-ring with a new one 16 (see fig. Parts of the engine lubrication system 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW) or 28 (see fig. Details of the engine lubrication system 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW).
7. Unscrew the oil filter with a special wrench 4 (see fig. Parts of the engine lubrication system 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW) or 12 (see fig. Details of the engine lubrication system 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW).
8. Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with engine oil.
9. Screw on the new filter by hand without using a tool.
10. Fill in the required amount of new oil, controlling its level on the pointer.
11. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Stop the engine, check the oil level and top up if necessary.

The filling volume of the lubrication system with an oil filter is 4.5 liters.
Fill the system with oils that meet the standards:
- engine 1.9 l, 74, kW - VW 505 0;
- engine 1.9 l, 47 kW - VW 506 00.
1. Park the vehicle on a level, level ground.
2. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.
3. Remove the oil filler cap.
4. Remove the engine splash shield.
5. Unscrew plug 18 (see fig. Parts of the diesel engine lubrication system) drain hole on the crankcase, after substituting a container under it, and drain the used oil. Screw in a new plug.
6. Unscrew cover 1.
7. Take out the filter element 4.
8. Install a new filter element, replacing the O-ring 3.
9. Screw in a new cover 1 with a new sealing ring 2. The tightening torque of the oil filter cover is 25 Nm.
10. Fill in the required amount of new oil, controlling its level on the pointer.
11. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Stop the engine, check the oil level and top up if necessary.
