Mounting the outside rear-view mirror
1 - sealing lining; 2 – an internal casing of a mirror; 3 - input; 4 - piston; 5 – control casing; 6 – an external rear-view mirror; 7 - electrical control; 8 - manual control; 9 - overlay
On Skoda Octavia vehicles, the manufacturer installs alternatively two types of exterior rear-view mirrors: a manually controlled exterior mirror and an electrically controlled and heated exterior mirror. The electrically heated mirror glass reduces fogging and icing of the mirror.
The mirrors are obviously different for the left and right sides, with the mirror for the left side not being a mirror image of the mirror for the right side. The difference is primarily in the angle of the main position of the lining (on the passenger side, the trim in the main position is more inclined towards the door) and, secondly, in the applied mirror. The driver's door mirror is aspherical and the passenger's is spherical. The aspherical mirror has a separate mirror glass. Almost two thirds of the length of the mirror with a flat surface, and from the outer third of the length it has a variable radius, which increases the field of view. In both types and versions of mirrors it is possible to replace mirror glasses with their holders, as they are available as separate spare parts. Mirror glass holder is a plastic base plate with supporting elements, on which the glass is glued.
An outside rearview mirror is included with the front doors. The mirror assembly is screwed to the door frame with three bolts and a plastic lining is attached to the inner one with one bolt, under which a tweeter can be placed. You also need to take into account that the surface of the mirrors is covered with a sensitive reflective layer, and therefore it must be protected from scratches. Ice must not be scraped off with mechanical devices.
When washing a car, mirrors should be leaned against the doors. This operation will not disturb their adjustment, which remains unchanged after being rotated to its original position.
