Engine number location
The engine number is given together with the engine designation (AEE), embossed on the block under the coolant regulator housing, as well as on the sticker located on the belt drive guard.
The crankcase is cast from gray cast iron. The working cylinders are located directly in it (original diameter = 76.51 mm).
The crankshaft bearings have cast iron caps that are part of the block just like the mounting screws.
In both halves of the bearings, liners made of steel sheet with a friction surface of a special alloy are inserted. The liners have tongue locks and a central lubrication groove.
The bearing caps are all the same, the shells are the same only for bearings 1, 2, 4, 5. The third bearing has a different shell, since it regulates the axial clearance of the shaft with side guide rings.
On the block, after completing the engine, an identification number is knocked out.
