Placement of the engine number stamped on the crankcase
One of the engines installed alternatively on Skoda cars of the Octavia series is the 1.9 TDI engine (turbodiesel) with a power of 66 kW. This engine is a supercharged, in-line, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder diesel engine with ONS valve timing (Over Head Camshaft) and direct fuel injection. The engine is located in the car in front, across, in front of the front axle with a slope back. The suction pipe and exhaust manifold are located on the rear side of the cylinder head (in driving direction). A turbocharger is installed between the manifold and the exhaust pipe.
Engine number (engine code and engine serial number) is shown in front of the gap separating the engine and gearbox. This number is also on a sticker on the timing belt housing, as well as the engine code and vehicle data plate.
