Starter — general information

Skoda Octavia vehicles alternatively use three types of starters. All of them have high-speed series-excited motors designed for short-term operation. The speed reducer is a planetary gearbox with three satellites. The reducer is located between the electric motor and the uncoupling mechanism with the gear. The gear is switched on in the usual way, by the so-called electromagnetic clutch switch, which simultaneously turns on the electric motor.

The 0.9 kW starter is designed for a 1.6–55 kW gasoline engine; a 1.1 kW starter is installed to work with engines from 1.8 to 92 kW. 1.8 kW starters are fitted to vehicles with 1.9 TDI–66 kW diesel engines.

Attention! In case of any damage, the starters must be repaired in the Skoda service.
