Attention! Before starting work on the electrical system and removing the steering wheel, the following conditions must be met: Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. The wheels must be installed in the straight position. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in airbag failure.
Set wheels straight ahead. Move the steering column adjustment lever down. Lower the steering column, pull it towards you and lock the adjustment mechanism (raise the lever). Remove airbag and steering wheel. Remove the upper and lower steering column cover. Remove the switch block.
Vehicles with foot airbags
Remove the leg airbag.
Vehicles with ignition lock housing
Unplug connector -arrow- from immobilizer sensing coil -D2-. Disconnect connector -2- from ignition lock housing -1-.
For vehicles with unlocking, locking and keyless start "Kessy"
Disconnect connector -1-. Release wiring harness from clip -arrow- on ELV control unit -J764-.

Remove left footwell air duct. Detach wiring harness -1- from steering column and lay to one side. Detach guide -2- in -direction of arrow-.
Unscrew nut -1- and pull off floor covering in -direction of arrow-.
Loosen bolt -1- and remove universal joint -2- from steering gear shaft.
Release screws -1- and -2-. Remove left foot airbag bracket -3- (in the presence of).
Remove bolts -1- and -2-. Remove right leg airbag bracket -3- (in the presence of).
Remove screw -1- while holding steering column -2-.
Remove steering column -1- from mountings -2- and -3- on central tube.
Note: Observe the rules for handling the steering column.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Insert steering column -1- into mountings -2- and -3- on center tube. Screw in screw -1-. Position airbag bracket -3- and screw in screws -1- and -2- hand-tight. Position airbag bracket -3- and screw in screws -1- and -2- hand-tight. Tighten bolts -1-, -2-, -3- and -4- alternately to the specified torque. Fit universal joint -2- onto steering column splines -against direction of arrow-. Tighten new bolt -1-. Fasten floor covering with nut -1-. Attach wiring harness -1- to steering column. Position guide -2- against -direction of arrow-. Install the footwell air duct on the left.
Vehicles with ignition lock housing
Connect connector -arrow- to immobilizer readout coil -D2-. Connect connector -2- to ignition lock housing -1-.
For vehicles with unlocking, locking and keyless start "Kessy"
Connect connector -1-. Attach wiring harness to clip -arrow- on control unit ELV-J764-.
Vehicles with foot airbags
Install the leg airbag.

Install the switch block. Install the upper and lower steering column shroud. Install the airbag and steering wheel. Carry out basic setting of steering angle sender -G85-.
