Compression test

The engine oil temperature is about 80°C. The battery voltage is not lower than 12.5 V. Remove the upper engine cover. Unplug electrical connector at fuel pressure regulator -N276- -pos. 2-. -Position 1- ignore.



To relieve fuel pressure in the fuel rail, briefly start the engine. Remove all glow plugs. Instead of the corresponding glow plug, screw in adapter -VAG 1763/8- and connect compression tester -VAG 1763-.



Ask the 2nd mechanic to turn the engine crankshaft with the starter until the gauge reading stops increasing. Repeat this on each cylinder.

Installation

Installation in reverse order. Install the glow plugs in the appropriate cylinders. Interrogation and removal of errors from the event recorder of the engine control unit.
