Note: The threaded holes of the cylinder head bolts in the cylinder block must be free of oil or coolant. Replace cylinder head screws. Do not reuse self-locking nuts. Replace screws that are tightened to a certain angle. Replace lip seals and gaskets. Remove the new cylinder head gasket from the packaging immediately before installation. The gasket must be handled with great care. Damage to the silicone sealant layer or the folded edges of the gasket can lead to leaks. When installing a cylinder head from an exchange stock with installed camshafts, the friction surfaces of the roller rocker arms and the surfaces of the camshaft cams should then be lubricated. To secure all hose connections, use original spring clamps, similar to those installed at the factory. To make sure that no valves come into contact with the piston crown when starting the engine, carefully rotate the crankshaft less than 2 revolutions.
Make sure that no foreign objects get into the cylinders or into the oil/coolant channels when cleaning the cylinder head and cylinder block. Carefully remove all sealant residue from the cylinder head and cylinder block with a chemical sealant thinner. Remove crankshaft lock -T10490- before installing cylinder head. Having turned the crankshaft in the opposite direction to the working one, set it in such a position that the pistons are approximately at the same level from "TDC", If there are no bushings in the cylinder block to center the cylinder block and cylinder head, then install them. At the same time, pay attention to the marking of the gasket.
Note: When replacing a cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, use a new gasket with the same number of holes as the old one. After replacing the parts of the connecting rod and piston group, select the appropriate cylinder head gasket by measuring the protrusion of the pistons at "TDC".
Fit cylinder head gasket onto dowel sleeves -arrows- in cylinder block. Installation position of cylinder block gasket: side marked "oben" or the part number for the cylinder head.
Install the cylinder head, Insert and tighten the cylinder head screws.
Note: It is not necessary to tighten the cylinder head bolts after the repair.
Turn the crankshaft in the working direction until the pin -arrow- of the crankshaft lock -T10490- engages during rotation in the hole in the crankshaft cover. Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing).
Installation in reverse order. Install the exhaust gas aftertreatment module. Install intake pipe. Install the left coolant pipes. Install the rear coolant pipe. Remove the front upper coolant pipe. Change engine oil. Replace coolant.
