Bringing to standby position/ready to install position
Before installing the ball end of the tow hitch, it must be brought to the position ready for installation. Turn key 1 until the red mark is visible. Grasp the ball end under the protective cap 2. Push the release pin 3 in the direction of the arrow as far as it will go and at the same time press the lever 4 in the direction of the arrow down to the stop. The lever will remain locked in this position.
Carefully! In the ready-to-install position, it is not possible to remove the key or turn it to another position.
Installing the ball end / locking the lock and installing the protective cap
Remove cover 4 downwards. Bring the tow hitch to the ready-to-install position. Grasp the ball end from below and insert it into the socket until it clicks into place. Lever 1 swings up on its own and release pin 2 extends (its red and green parts become visible). If lever 1 does not turn on its own, or release pin 2 does not extend, turn the lever down to the stop to remove the ball head from the seat and clean the inclined surfaces of the ball head and the seat. Lock the control lever lock by turning the key 180°clockwise (its green mark 3 is visible) and remove the key in the direction of the arrow. Put cap 4 on the lock in the direction of the arrow. Check that the ball end is correctly fastened.
Attention! When attaching the ball head, keep your hands out of the swivel range of the lever - risk of injury to your fingers! Never try to pull the control lever up by force to turn the key. In this case, the ball end will not be fixed correctly! After removing the key, always put the cap on the lock - risk of soiling the lock. Keep the ball socket clean. Dirt prevents the ball head from being held securely! When the ball head is removed, always close the socket with a cap.
Checking the correct fixing
Proper fastening of the ball head of the hitch
Before each use of the ball end, the TSU must check that it is properly secured. Check the following points: Lever 1 is in its highest position, pin 2 is fully extended (visible red and green parts), the key is removed, cap 3 is put on the lock of the control lever, the ball head, if it is strongly «move», does not leave the nest.
Removing the tow hitch
Unlocking the control lever of the ball head Disconnecting the ball head
Remove cap 1 from the lock of the ball end in the direction of the arrow. Unlock the control lever lock by turning key 2 180°counterclockwise until the red mark is visible. Grab the ball end from underneath. Push the release pin 3 in the direction of the arrow to the stop and at the same time press the lever 4 in the direction of the arrow down to the stop. In this position, the ball tip is released and falls down into the hand. If, after releasing the ball head, it does not detach from the socket on its own, press it from above with the other hand. At the same time, the ball end is fixed in the ready-to-install position and is thus ready to be inserted into the attachment socket again. Close the attachment socket with cover 4.
Carefully! If the lever is held and pressed down not to the stop, after removing the ball end it returns to the upper position and is not fixed in the ready-to-install position. In this case, the ball end of the hitch must be brought to this position before the next installation. Place the ball end in the ready-to-fit position with the key inserted in the lock in the on-board tool box with the side facing the inserted key down - risk of damaging the key! Do not apply excessive force to the control lever (e.g. don't step on it)! Before removing the ball head, it is recommended to put a protective cap on it. Before placing the ball head in the on-board tool box, clean the ball head of dirt.
Operation and care
Close the mounting socket with a lid to prevent dirt from entering. Before hitching up a trailer, always check the ball end of the towing hitch and, if necessary, treat it with a suitable grease. When storing the ball head, use the protective cap to protect the luggage compartment from dirt. If soiled, clean the ball seat surfaces and treat with a suitable preservative.
Carefully! There is grease on the top of the mounting socket. Do not allow grease to be removed.
