Vehicles for countries with a temperate climate are factory-filled with a coolant that provides frost protection down to -25°C. The proportion of antifreeze in these countries must be at least 40%. Vehicles for countries with a cold climate are filled at the factory with coolant that provides frost protection down to -35°C. The proportion of antifreeze in these countries should be at least 50%. If, due to climatic conditions, increased frost protection is required, the proportion of coolant concentrate can be increased (antifreeze), but not more than up to 60% (frost protection down to approximately -40°C). In the future, use only antifreeze, the designation of which is indicated on the expansion tank.

Carefully! Do not fill coolant above mark A! In case of a malfunction that leads to overheating of the engine, we recommend that you immediately contact the service station, otherwise the engine can be severely damaged.

Engine compartment: coolant expansion tank

The coolant expansion tank is located in the engine compartment. Stop the engine. Open the hood. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank.

Coolant level above mark A

Adding coolant is prohibited. With a warm engine, the level may lie slightly above mark A.

Coolant level between marks A and B

You can add coolant. When the engine is cold, the coolant level should be between marks A and B.

Coolant level below mark B

Coolant needs to be topped up. On a cold engine, add coolant so that its level is between marks A and B. If the coolant level in the expansion tank is too low, the counter lights up. icon in the instrument cluster. Nevertheless, we recommend that you regularly check the coolant level directly in the tank.

Coolant loss

The loss of coolant in the first place can be caused by leaks. It is not enough just to add coolant. Check the cooling system at the service station.

Addendum

Add only fresh coolant. Stop the engine. Let the engine cool down. Lay rags on the coolant expansion tank cap and carefully unscrew the cap. Add coolant. Tighten the lid so that characteristic clicks are heard. If in an emergency it is not possible to fill in the coolant of the required brand, do not fill in any antifreeze. In this case, use only clean water and, as soon as possible, fill the service station with water with a concentrate in the right ratio.
