Note: Depending on the vehicle version, 3 versions of the radiator are fitted.
Open cap -arrow- of expansion tank. Remove soundproof cover. Position crane tray -VAS 6208-. Unplug electrical connector -2- at radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83- -3-. Raise retaining clip 1, disconnect lower left coolant hose from radiator and drain coolant.
Atm with radiator version 1
Loosen retaining clip -arrow-, disconnect lower right coolant hose from charge air cooler and allow remaining coolant to flow out.
Vehicles with cooling radiator versions 2 and 3
Raise clamp -2-, detach coolant hose from charge air cooler and drain off remaining coolant.
Fill
Select coolant concentrate according to the Electronic Catalog of Original Spare Parts "ETKA". Mix the concentrate and drinking water in a clean container, observing the specified proportion. Connect the lower left coolant hose with coupling to the radiator.
Vehicles with radiator version 1
Connect lower right hose to charge air cooler -arrow-.
Vehicles with cooling radiator versions 2 and 3
Connect lower right hose to charge air cooler -2-.

Pour at least 10 liters of pre-mixed coolant into the canister of -VAS 6096-. Install adapter for coolant system tester -VAG 1274/8- on expansion tank. Connect cooling system filling tool -VAS 6096- to adapter -VAG 1274/8-. Lower the ventilation hose -1- into a suitable small container -2-.
Note: The air expelled from the system takes a small amount of coolant with it, a container is required to trap it.
Close valves -A- and -B- by turning the levers perpendicular to the direction of fluid flow. Connect hose -3- to compressed air supply. Pressure: 0.6-1Mpa (6-10 bar) overpressure.
Open the valve -B-, to do this turn the lever in the direction of the fluid flow. A vacuum is created in the cooling system under the action of the ejection pump. The instrument pointer should be in the green area. In addition, briefly open tap -A- by turning its lever in the direction of fluid flow until coolant fills reservoir hose -VAS 6096-. Close valve -A- again. Leave tap -B- open for another 2 minutes. In the cooling system, under the action of the ejection pump, a vacuum is formed again, the arrow of the device should again move to the green area. Close valve -B-. The gauge needle should still be in the green area. The vacuum in the cooling system is sufficient for subsequent filling.
Note: If the arrow does not reach the green area, repeat the process. If the vacuum in the cooling system does not hold, check its tightness.
Disconnect the compressed air hose. Open tap -A-. The vacuum draws the coolant from the reservoir -VAS 6096- into the cooling system and thus fills the system. Remove coolant filling tool -VAS 6096- from expansion tank.
Top up the coolant up to the "Max" on the tank. Install soundproof cover.
For vehicles with auxiliary heater
Switch on the auxiliary heater for about 30 seconds.

Set temperature to "HI". Switch off the air conditioner compressor by pressing the AC button. The LED in the key should not light up. Start the engine and let it run at 1500 rpm for no more than 2 minutes. With the engine running, fill the coolant into the expansion tank up to the level of the overflow hole. Tighten the expansion tank cap until the latch engages. Leave the engine idling until the two large coolant hoses on the radiator are hot. Switch off the engine and let it cool down. Check coolant level. When the engine is cold, the coolant level must be between the "Min" and "Max" If the engine is warm, the coolant level may be above the "Max". Top up coolant if necessary.
