Refueling
Choose a concentrate for coolant. Mix water and coolant additive in the correct ratio in a clean container. Connect coolant hose with coupling -3- to radiator from below. Pour at least 10 liters of pre-mixed coolant into the canister of the -VAS 6096-. Screw adapter for coolant system tester -VAG 1274/8- into coolant expansion tank. Fit coolant filling device -VAS 6096- onto adapter -VAG 1274/8-. Lower the ventilation hose -1- into a suitable small container -2-.
Note: The air expelled from the system takes a small amount of coolant with it, a container is required to trap it.
Close valves -A- and -B- by turning the levers perpendicular to the direction of fluid flow. Connect hose -3- to compressed air supply. Pressure: 0.6... 1 MPa (6.,.10 bar). Open the cooling circuit valves.
Open the valve -B-, to do this turn the lever in the direction of the fluid flow. In the cooling system, under the action of the ejection pump, a vacuum is formed, the arrow of the device should move to the green area. Briefly open valve -A- by turning its lever in direction of fluid flow until coolant fills reservoir hose -VAS 6096-. Close valve -A- again. Leave tap -B- open for another 2 minutes In the cooling system under the action of the ejection pump, a vacuum is formed, the pointer of the device should move to the green area. Close valve -B-. The instrument pointer must remain in the green area. In this case, the vacuum in the cooling system will be sufficient for the subsequent filling of the cooling system.
Note: If the pointer of the pressure indicator is below the green range, repeat the process. If the vacuum decreases, it is necessary to check the tightness of the cooling system.
Disconnect the compressed air hose. Open tap -A-. The vacuum created in the cooling system causes the coolant to be sucked in from the coolant expansion tank -VAS 6096- and fill the cooling system. Remove coolant filling tool -VAS 6096- from expansion tank.
Top up the coolant up to the "Max" on the tank.
Note: Hose connections and charge air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installation.
Install soundproof cover. On vehicles with an auxiliary heater, turn it on for about 30 seconds. Set temperature to "HI". Switch off the air conditioner compressor by pressing the AC button. The LED in the key should not light up. Start the engine and let it run at a frequency of approx. 1500 rpm for no more than 2 minutes. With the engine running, fill the coolant into the expansion tank up to the level of the overflow hole. Close expansion tank cap until it clicks into place. Let the engine idle until the two large coolant hoses on the radiator are hot. Switch off the engine and let it cool down, Check the coolant level. When the engine is cold, the coolant level must be between the "Min" and "Mach". If the engine is warm, the coolant level may be above the "Max". Top up coolant if necessary.
