Note: The oil level in the gearbox can only be checked by completely draining the gear oil and then refilling it. To drain the transmission oil, it is necessary to remove the journal of the shift fork shaft in the gearbox. To ensure that the position of the shift fork does not change, for example, when the shift mechanism is accidentally actuated, it is necessary to fix the shift rod.
Checking the oil level in the gearbox using previously known methods is no longer possible.
The inclination of the engine/gearbox assembly has been changed so that the lower edge of the filling hole -1- is therefore below the new oil level -2-.
Draining gear oil
Note: To drain the gear oil, the journal of the shift fork shaft in the gearbox must be removed. To ensure that the position of the shift fork does not change, for example, when the shift mechanism is accidentally actuated, it is necessary to fix the shift rod.
Remove the air filter if installed above the gearbox. Secure selector shaft as follows: Move selector lever in direction -arrow 1- downwards into 1st/2nd gear change channel. In doing so, turn bracket -A- in direction of -arrow 2- until it engages. In this case, the gearshift rod is locked and no longer moves. Remove the lower soundproofing casing of the engine. Install an oil collecting pan under the gearbox.
Unscrew the oil drain plug -1-, remove the shaft journal -2- and drain the gear oil. Screw in oil drain plug -1- and tighten to specified torque. Install support sleeve -2- (O-ring must be replaced) and tighten to the specified torque.
Turn elbow -A- to original position in -direction of arrow-. Install the lower engine soundproofing cover.
Transmission oil filling
Remove the air filter if installed above the gearbox. Remove the reversing light switch - see arrow-. Insert a hose with a funnel into the reversing light switch mounting hole and add gear oil. Install the reversing light switch - see arrow - and tighten to the specified torque.
