Disassembly
Note.
- Necessary special devices, control and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Device for compressing a coiled spring, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-.
- Spring holder e.g. -VAG 1752/5-.
- Shock absorber set -T10001-.
Coil Spring Removal
1. Remove shock absorber assembly (more details, see above).
2. Compress the coil spring using a coil spring compressor, e.g. -VAG 1752/1- to such an extent that the thrust ball bearing is released at the top
- 1 - Device for compressing a coiled spring, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-.
- 2 - Wrench with calibrated tightening torque.
- 3 - Spring holder, e.g. -VAG 1752/4-.
- 4 - Allen key 21 - MP6-427 (3186).
Attention. First, pre-tension the coil spring just enough to take the load off the top spring seat!
Note. Make sure that the coil spring is correctly installed in the spring holder, e.g. -VAG 1752/4- -arrow-.
3. Unscrew the nut from the piston rod.
4. Remove the individual parts of the suspension strut and the compressed coil spring with a coil spring compressor, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-.
Coil spring installation
1. Coiled spring with a device for compressing the coiled spring, e.g. -VAG 1752/1- Push onto lower spring seat.
2. The end of the winding spring must rest as far as it will go -arrow-.
3. Tighten a new nut on the piston rod.
4. Having released the device for compressing the coiled spring, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-, remove it from the coil spring.
5. Install the suspension strut.
