Removing
Note.
- The steering column is supplied as a single piece, repair is not provided.
- Before starting any work related to the removal of the steering column, it is necessary to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
- Set the front wheels in the direction of straight ahead.
Attention. If the preparatory work is not carried out, the element of the passive safety system may be damaged.
1. Set the front steered wheels in the straight ahead direction.
2. Remove the steering wheel assembly.
Attention. The airbag module slip ring should only be removed and installed when the steering wheel is in the neutral position.
3. Remove the dashboard assembly (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
4. Remove the air duct directing the air flow to the foot area, from the driver's side (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system).
5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) immobilizer reading coils as shown in the picture below.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2) from the ignition lock housing, as shown in the figure below.
7. Unscrew the fastening screw and disconnect the wire «masses» steering column.
8. Disconnect the clamps of the wiring harnesses from the steering column (arrows), as shown in the figure below.
9. Unscrew the plastic fastening nuts (arrows) and remove trim panel (1), shown in the figure below.
10. Unscrew the fastening screw (arrow), connecting the steering column shaft and the steering gear shaft through the universal joint (1), as shown in the figure below. Disconnect the steering column shaft by moving the universal joint in the direction of the arrow.
11. Unscrew the lower fixing screw (arrow) mounting bracket as shown in the figure below.
12. Unscrew the fastening bolts (arrows), shown in the figure below, the steering column to the cross member of the dashboard. Hold the steering column assembly in place to prevent it from falling.
13. Carefully detach the steering column assembly (IN) from support bracket (A), as shown in the figure below.
14. To take a steering column in gathering.
Attention. Be extremely careful with the steering column to prevent damage to it.
Installation
1. Install steering column assembly (2) into the mounting bracket on the instrument panel support cross member as shown in the figure below.
2. Fix the steering column assembly (IN) in supports (A) on the cross member of the dashboard, as shown in the figure below. Check and make sure that the steering column is properly supported on its supports.
Note. When installing the steering column, it is necessary that the mounting holes match exactly.
3. Install and tighten the bolts securing the steering column to the dashboard cross member (arrows), as shown in the figure below.
4. Unlock the steering column adjustment lever.
5. Screw in and torque tighten the steering column side bolt to the mounting bracket as shown in the figure below.
6. Connect the universal joint (1) to the steering rack gear shaft as shown in the figure below.
7. Install and tighten with the required tightening torque the connecting screw of the steering column with the steering gear shaft, as shown in the figure below.
8. Fix the wiring harnesses with clamps on the steering column (arrows), as shown in the figure below.
9. Connect the wiring harness connector to the ignition lock housing (1), as shown in the figure below.
10. Connect the wiring harness connector (2) to the immobilizer sensing coil as shown in the figure below.
11. Connect and fix the wire «masses» steering column.
12. Install and fix the air duct of the ventilation system in the foot area on the driver's side (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system).
13. Install the dashboard assembly (see the relevant section in chapter Body).
14. Install paddle switches.
15. To establish panels of facing of a steering column in gathering.
16. Install the steering wheel assembly. Install the driver's front airbag module (more. see the relevant section in chapter Passive safety).
