3. Mounting the induction ammeter
2. Apply the parking brake. Check that the gear lever is in position P. Start the engine.
3. Make sure that all electrical equipment is turned off.
4. Remove the automatic shutdown relay «masses» from the power distribution unit.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
6. If the voltage is below 9.6 V, check the starter. If the starter is good, check the engine.
7. If the voltage is greater than 9.6V, measure the voltage drop.
8. If the voltage is 12.5V or higher and the starter does not crank, check the solenoid, wiring, connectors, relay, etc.
9. If the voltage is 12.5 V or higher and the starter turns slowly, measure the voltage drop.
Note. When the engine is cold, the measured starter current and battery voltage are higher.
