Introduction
Your vehicle is equipped with a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. The speed steps are switched in ascending and descending order automatically. This is a standard automatic transmission. The maximum vehicle speed is reached at the 5th speed level. The sixth stage speed stage serves as an economical transmission to reduce overall fuel consumption.
Operating Instructions for Automatic Transmission
The speed steps are switched in ascending and descending order automatically.
However, the gearbox can also be switched to TipTronic mode. This mode allows you to switch the travel steps manually.
Acceleration and movement of the car
Step on the brake pedal
By pressing the lock button located in the head of the selector lever, move the lever to the desired position, for example O and then release the lock button.
Wait a little while the gearbox does not shift into gear (feel a slight jolt).
Release the brake pedal and apply gas.
Stop
For short stops, eg at junctions, it is not necessary to move the selector lever to position N. Braking is sufficient. But it is necessary that the engine runs only at idle speed.
Parking
Step on the brake pedal
Firmly tighten the handbrake lever. publishing house «Monolith»
After pressing the lock button, move the selector lever to position P and release the lock button.
The engine can only be started in positions P or N.
When parking on level ground, move the selector lever to position P. On a sloping road, first firmly tighten the handbrake lever and only then move the selector lever to the parking position. This reduces the load on the locking mechanism, which will subsequently make it easier for you to remove the selector lever from position P.
If, while the vehicle is moving, you mistakenly select position N of the selector lever, then before engaging the position for driving forward, you need to release the gas and wait for the idling speed.
Attention.
- The double clutch of the DSG automatic transmission has an overload protection function. When the hill start assist is used with the vehicle stationary or moving slowly uphill, the clutch operates under increased heat load.
- When overheating occurs, lights up in the information display with a warning message. In this case, stop the vehicle, switch off the engine and wait until the warning lamp and the text go out - risk of damage to the transmission! After the symbol and the warning text go out, you can continue driving.
Attention.
- When choosing a driving mode with a stationary car with a running engine, never add "gas" - risk of accident!
- Never move the selector lever to position Z or P while the vehicle is moving - risk of accident!
- If the vehicle has to stand still in the selected driving mode with the engine running at idle speed, e.g. during stops and short passages before an intersection, you must press the brake pedal, because the transmission does not completely stop at idle speed, as a result causing the vehicle to move away.
Selector lever positions
The engaged position of the selector lever is displayed on the instrument panel display by brightly highlighting the designation of the corresponding speed level. In positions D a S, the display also shows the gear engaged.
P - Parking position
In this position, the driving wheels of the vehicle are mechanically locked.
The parking position can only be switched on when the vehicle is stopped.
If you want to turn this position on or off, you must press the lock button in the head of the selector lever while depressing the brake pedal.
If the battery is discharged, it is not possible to disengage the selector lever from application P.
R - Reverse gear
Reverse gear may only be engaged with the vehicle stopped and at engine speed at idle.
To move the selector lever to position K from position P or M, you need to press the lock button while depressing the brake pedal. If the ignition is on, the reversing lights are on in position P.
N - Neutral position (idle position)
In this position, idling is activated. If desired, move the selector lever out of position N (if the lever is in this position longer than 2 sec.) to position D, you need to press the brake pedal at speeds below 5 km / h, as well as in a stationary car and with the ignition on.
If desired, move the selector lever out of position N (if the lever is in this position longer than 2 sec.) to position R, you need to press the brake pedal at speeds below 5 km / h, as well as with the car stationary and with the ignition on.
D - Permanent position for forward movement
Gears in this position shift automatically in ascending or descending order depending on the engine load, vehicle speed and automatic transmission control program while the vehicle is moving.
If you want to move the lever from position D to position N at a speed not exceeding 5 km / h, you must, as well as in a stopped car, press the brake pedal.
Under certain circumstances (riding in the mountains or operating a car with a scope) it is advisable to switch to the manual gear change program in order to allow manual adjustment of the gear ratio to the driving situation.
S - Sports driving position
Late shifting into higher gears allows full use of the engine's power potential. The downshift occurs at a higher engine speed than in D.
If desired, move the selector lever to position S from position D. You need to press the lock button on the head of the selector lever.
Attention.
- Never move the selector lever to position R or P while the vehicle is moving - risk of accident!
- If the vehicle must stand still in the selected driving mode with the engine running at idle speed, e.g. during stops and short passages before an intersection, you must press the brake pedal, since the transmission does not completely stop at idle speed, as a result causing the vehicle to move away.
- If any of the driving modes is selected for a stationary car, in no case can you add by mistake "gas" (e.g. by hand in the engine compartment). Otherwise, the vehicle will immediately move away - under some circumstances, even if the handbrake lever is tightened - risk of accident!
- Before opening the engine hood and working on a running engine, engage position P and firmly tighten the handbrake lever - risk of accident!
Locking mechanism (constipation) selector lever
Automatic locking of the selector lever
In positions P and N, the selector lever is locked when the ignition is on. To remove the lever from these positions, you need to press the brake pedal. As a reminder to the driver, when the selector lever is in P and N positions, the indicator on the instrument panel lights up.
In addition, the symbol of the automatic locking of the selector lever lights up on the gearshift gate.
The time delay link ensures that during a smooth transition through the N position (e.g. from R to D) selector lever is not locked. This makes it possible, for example, to release a vehicle with a failed wheel. The lock only pops up if the brake pedal is not pressed and the lever remains in position N for more than 2 seconds.
The selector lever lock is only active when the vehicle is stationary and at speeds lower than 5 km/h. At higher speeds, the lock in the N position is automatically switched off.
Lock button
The lock button on the selector lever head prevents inadvertent selection of certain positions of the selector lever Pressing the lock button releases the lock of the selector lever
Ignition key removal guard
The key can be removed after switching off the ignition only if the selector lever is in position P. If the key is pulled out of the ignition lock, the selector lever is locked in position P.
Emergency program
An emergency program is available in the event of a system failure.
If a fault occurs in the gearbox electronics, the gearbox continues to operate, but switches to one of the emergency programs. Such a program signals itself by lighting up and, accordingly, by extinguishing all segments of the display.
And henceforth it is possible to include all positions of the selector lever. In positions D and S, the gearbox remains in 3rd gear. In position P, as usual, reverse gear is available.
The manual shift program is switched off in the emergency program.
In the event that the gearbox switches to the emergency program, contact a specialized workshop as soon as possible in order to eliminate the malfunction.
Emergency release of the selector lever
In the event of a power failure for the automatic locking mechanism (constipation) selector lever (e.g. dead battery, defective fuse) or a malfunction of the constipation itself, it is impossible to move the selector lever from position P in the usual way and the car cannot be moved. The selector lever must be unlocked in an emergency way.
Tighten the hand brake lever.
Open the stowage box on the middle panel in front or the ashtray in front.
Carefully remove the selector lever cover slightly forward on the left and right sides.
Release the cover from the back too.
thin object (e.g. key) push the lever of the yellow plastic part to the left as shown in the picture above.
Press the lock button on the head of the selector lever at the same time and move the lever to position.
