Note.
- Necessary special devices, control and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Cooling system tester -VAG 1274 V-.
- Adapter (adapter) cooling system tester -VAG 1274/8-.
- Adapter (adapter) cooling system tester -VAG 1274/9-.
Note. Before starting the test, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
Attention. When the surge tank is opened, hot steam may escape. Wear safety goggles and protective clothing to avoid injury to eyes and burns. After closing the cork with a rag, carefully open it.
1. Open the cover of the expansion tank.
2. Screw adapter for cooling system tester -VAG 1274/8- into coolant expansion tank.
3. Connect connecting piece -VAG 1274 V/1- to adapter of cooling system tester -VAG 1274/8-.
4. Connect connecting piece -VAG 1274 V/1- with supplied connecting hose to coolant system tester -VAG 1274 V-.
5. Using a hand pump on the test device, create an overpressure of 0.1 MPa (1.0 bar).
Attention.
- Burn hazard
- Before disconnecting the cooling system tester -VAG 1274 B- from the connecting hose or connecting piece -VAG 1274 V/1-, it is absolutely necessary to relieve the pressure.
- To do this, press the relief valve on the cooling system tester -VAG 1274 B- and keep it pressed until the pressure gauge shows "0".
If the pressure value drops
6. Find the leak and fix the problem.
Safety valve control in the lid
1. Screw the cover into the adapter for the cooling system tester -VAG 1274/9- as shown in the figure below.
2. Connect connecting piece -VAG 1274 V/1- to adapter of cooling system tester -VAG 1274/9- as shown in figure below.
3. Connect connecting piece -VAG 1274 V/1- with supplied connecting hose to cooling system tester -VAG 1274 V-.
4. Move the hand pump If there is an overpressure of 0.14... 0.16 MPa (1.4...1.6 bar) the safety valve should open.
Safety valve opens too early or too late
5. Replace plug.
