Note.
- Necessary special devices, control and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Cooling system tester -VAG 1274-.
- Adapter (adapter) cooling system tester -VAG 1274/8-.
- Adapter (adapter) cooling system tester -VAG 1274/9-.
Note. Before starting the test, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
Attention. When the surge tank is opened, hot steam may escape. Wear safety goggles and protective clothing to avoid injury to eyes and burns. After closing the cork with a rag, carefully open it.
1. Open the expansion tank.
2. Fit cooling system tester -VAG 1274- with adapter -VAG 1274/8- to expansion tank as shown in figure below.
3. Pressurize the test device with a hand pump to approx. 0.1 MPa (1.0 bar).
If the pressure value drops
4. Find the leak and fix the problem.
Safety valve control in the lid
1. Place cooling system tester -VAG 1274- with attachment -VAG 1274/9- on plug.
2. Operate the hand pump. In the presence of overpressure 0.14-0.16 MPa (1.4-1.6 bar) the safety valve should open.
Safety valve opens too early or too late
3. Replace cover.
