Drain
Note. It is necessary to drain the coolant into a clean container prepared in advance.
Attention. When removing the cap of the expansion tank, be extremely careful, as the liquid in the system is under pressure, as a result of which steam can be released, which in turn can lead to injury and burns. Before unscrewing the cap of the expansion tank, it must be wrapped with a clean rag.
1. Open the cover of the expansion tank of the engine cooling system.
2. Remove the soundproofing cover.
3. Place a container under the engine to collect the coolant.
4. Loosen the fastening clamp and disconnect the hoses (2) from the coolant recirculation pump (3), as shown in the figure below.
5. Remove the left air pipe of the engine intake system.
Attention. Plug the intercooler holes using a clean, lint-free rag.
6. Release the clamp (arrow), shown in the figure below, and then disconnect the water pipe from the radiator of the cooling system.
7. Release the clamp and disconnect the water hose from the engine oil cooler (arrow), thus draining the rest of the coolant as shown in the figure below.
Filling
Note. Always after disconnection, the O-rings must be replaced.
1. Connect the bottom water pipe to the radiator. Install and tighten the hose clamp (arrow), shown in the figure below.
2. Install the left air outlet.
3. Connect to optional coolant recirculation pump (3) water hoses (2), shown in the figure below. Tighten the hose clamps.
4. Connect the water hose to the engine oil cooler of the engine lubrication system (arrow), as shown in the figure below.
5. Pour fresh coolant into the cooling system through the expansion tank until its level is set opposite the mark «max».
6. Turn off the heater and, if installed, the air conditioning system.
7. Start the engine and let it run for three minutes at 2000 rpm while constantly adding coolant to the expansion tank.
8. Install and tighten the expansion tank cap.
9. Let the engine run at idle until the cooling fan kicks in.
10. Check again the coolant level in the expansion tank when its cap is closed. If necessary, add coolant to the expansion tank after the engine has cooled down.
On an engine warmed up to normal operating temperature, the coolant level should be opposite the mark «max», if the engine is cold, then between the marks «max» and «min».
