Note: Specific features for towing a trailer are specified in Section 27.
When transporting goods in the cabin, secure them securely, for example with seat belts. Place the largest and heaviest items as low as possible and as close to the center of the vehicle as possible. Transport small pets in special bags, also secured. Do not transfer heavy items on the rear shelf. In the event of an accident, maneuvering or braking, they can cause injury. In addition, the friction of the load against the rear and side windows can damage the antennas and the heating element.
Transportation of goods on the roof
When transporting goods on the roof of a car, due to a change in the center of gravity, the behavior of the car on the road and its handling change, and fuel consumption increases. When loading the roof rack, place the load evenly and place heavy objects at the bottom and in front. Also make sure to securely secure the load. Check the load securing and tightness of the roof rack/rails fasteners before starting a trip, after the first 50 km of a trip, and then every 1000 km of a trip. Remove the roof rack before passing through an automatic car wash, and also when it is not needed (for fuel economy and noise reduction).
Observe the requirements specified in the Specifications for the maximum roof load and the maximum permissible vehicle weight.
If necessary, cross beams can be fixed on the roof, on which various roof racks from the Skoda range can be installed. Mounting holes are located on the inside of the doorways (see illustration 26.1). Strictly follow all the instructions in the attached roof rack installation manual. When placing the load, make sure that it does not interfere with opening the tailgate or hatch cover.
