Steering

The vehicle is equipped with an electromechanical power steering instead of a hydraulic one, which makes it possible to simplify steering maintenance and reduce fuel consumption. The e/motor of the amplifier works only as required. The gain depends on the speed of the vehicle, the torque on the steering wheel and the angle of the front wheels. The booster only works when the engine is running.

To help the driver during a skid, the power steering has a reverse steer function, also called an active steering assist system (DSR). This function is to create additional force to help the driver turn the steering wheel in the direction of the skid.

Note: This feature does not control the vehicle without driver input.

To monitor the status of the power steering and the steering column lock mechanism, use the corresponding warning lamp in the instrument cluster (see Section 13).
