General information
Comment. For information on emergency seat belt tensioners, refer to Section 10.
All people in a moving vehicle should wear seat belts. The use of one seat belt for fastening more than one person is not allowed.
All seat belts have a diagonal-waist design, which implies the presence of three anchor points, one of which is equipped with an inertial return device with automatic jerk locking. Belts of this type do not need to be adjusted in length. Front seat belts additionally have tension limiters. The lap section of the belt should be placed at the level of the hips so that it covers the hip joint of the seated person, as the most durable element of the human skeleton, and does not put pressure on the stomach. The shoulder section of the belt must pass through the center of the shoulder and must not be passed under the arm or placed around the neck. Make sure the belt is not twisted.
If necessary, the height of the upper anchor points of the front seat belts can be adjusted. To raise or lower the top anchor, squeeze the locking mechanism (see illustration 7.1) and at the same time pull the upper belt anchor in the appropriate direction. Release the locking mechanism and check that the anchor is secure. If it is not possible to ensure the correct position of the upper anchor by adjusting it, further adjust the seat height (see Section 9).
7.1 Adjusting the height of the front seat belt
Remember that the maximum effectiveness of the seat belt is achieved in the upright position of the seatback. Excessive inclination of the backrest increases the likelihood of the occupant slipping in the event of an impact.
Seat belt reminders
Caution: Do not fool the electronics by buckling the seat belt behind your back or inserting a plug into the seat belt buckle, this may cause additional injury caused by the electronics controlling the airbags as if the driver and front passenger were buckled up.
Reminders of unfastened front seat belts are a buzzer and a corresponding warning lamp in the instrument cluster (see Section 13).
When the ignition is turned on, the C / L of unfastened seat belts turns on for a few seconds, confirming the system's operability. If the C/L does not light up when the seat belts are fastened, continues to burn constantly or lights up from time to time while driving, then there is a malfunction in the seat belt warning system.
With the ignition on, the K/L goes out only when the driver and front passenger (in the presence of) fasten a seat belt. If the driver / front passenger is not wearing a seat belt at a speed of more than 20 km / h, the R / L starts flashing and an audible signal sounds. If you do not buckle up within 90 seconds after that, the sound signal will turn off, and the K / L will continue to burn. If you fasten and then unfasten the seat belt again, the reminder will repeat.
Comment. False warnings may be given if there is cargo on the front passenger seat. electronics determines the occupancy of the seat by the pressure on its pillow.
Rules for using seat belts
Attention. Do not attach any pads or other objects to the seat belt straps.
Slowly pull the belt out of the retractor, slung it over your shoulder and insert the belt buckle into the buckle until it clicks into place. Pull the strap of the shoulder section up, checking the reliability of fixing the bracket in the lock. Make sure the strap is not twisted, a twisted strap is dangerous in itself.
Lower the lap section of the belt as far as possible, placing it as low as possible on the hips. By pulling on the shoulder section of the belt, take up the slack and try to get the belt snug against the body, if necessary, tighten the belt accordingly. The strap should pass diagonally across the ribcage of the seated person in such a way that the load on impact falls mainly on the strongest upper torso.
The seat belt for the center rear seat is located in the back of the center rear seat. To fasten this belt, pull it out, insert the buckle at the end of the belt into the right buckle, and then fasten it like a normal belt by inserting the sliding buckle into the left buckle.
The driver, having fastened his seat belt, must check that all passengers are also properly fastened. One unfastened person in an accident can cause injuries not only for himself, but also for the rest, even if they are fastened people.
In order to unfasten the belt, while holding it, press the red button located on the lock body. When winding the belt with the return device drum, hold it by the buckle. After getting out of the car, make sure that the belt is not pinched by the door.
Recommendations for pregnant women
Ensuring the safety of a pregnant woman is the best way to save the fetus in the event of an accident, so when driving a car (as driver or passenger) a pregnant woman must wear a seat belt without fail, paying special attention to the correct placement of the belt sections relative to her body.
When using diagonal waist belts, remember that the lap section of the belt should be located as low as possible on the hips and in no case be on the stomach. The shoulder section should pass through the center of the chest and wrap around the abdomen from above and to the side.
A pregnant woman should also occupy an upright position on the seat. At the same time, the front seat should be moved as far as possible from the instrument panel, which will reduce the risk of injury and injury not only for the pregnant woman, but also for the fetus in the event of an accident or a front airbag deployment.
At each visit to the supervising doctor, consult whether it is desirable for you to drive a car.
