Oil 5-speed manual transmission "0А4" and 6-speed manual transmission "02S"
32. Because RKPP "0A4" And "02S" are installed at an angle, their oil at a normal level is above the lower cut of the control filler hole (see resist. illustration). Therefore, checking the oil level cannot be done in the traditional way. To check, it is necessary to completely drain and then refill the manual transmission oil, as described in paragraphs 33-38. The volume of oil is indicated in the Specifications.
4.32 Oil levels at horizontal (1) and oblique (2) provisions of the RKPP
33. To drain the oil, it is necessary to remove the axis of the gear shift forks, and the gear shift shaft should be blocked so that the position of the forks does not change (e.g. if the gear lever is accidentally moved).
34. Remove the air cleaner (see chapter 4) and block the shift shaft. To do this, push it down (1 per resist. illustrations) into the 1st/2nd gear slot of the selector lever and turn the bevel lever (A) in the direction of the arrow (2) before fixation.
4.34 Locking the shift shaft
35. Remove the soundproofing under the engine compartment (see chapter 11), install a container under the manual transmission to collect oil and remove the plug (1 per resist. illustrations) drain hole and axle (2) forks. Let the oil drain, install the drain plug and fork axle with a new O-ring. Tighten the axle bolt with a force of 25 Nm, and the plug with a force of 30 Nm.
4.35 Cork (1) drain hole and axle (2) shift forks
36. Rotate the angle arm to its original position and install the soundproofing.
37. With the air cleaner removed, remove D / V reversing lights (1 per resist. illustrations), insert a hose with a funnel into its installation hole and fill in the required amount of oil (see specs).

Note: Use a hose approximately 60 cm long and 10 mm outside diameter.
38. Tighten D / V reversing lights with a force of 20 Nm, check the operation of the gearshift mechanism and install the air cleaner.
Oil 6-speed manual transmission ("OAJ", "02Q"), corner gear, Haldex clutch and rear differential
39. Raise the car so that it is level.
40. When checking the oil level of the manual transmission and corner gear, remove the soundproof panels under the engine compartment (see chapter 11). To provide access to the filler plug of the corner gear, unscrew the bolts (1 per resist. illustrations) and remove the heat shield (And, if available) right drive shaft (WITH), and on models with an independent heater - additionally separate the coolant pipes (IN) from the engine (2) and double screws on the corner gear.

41. Turn out the plug of the control filler hole of the manual transmission, angular gear, Haldex clutch or rear differential (see resist. illustrations) and insert a wire bent at a right angle into it. Remove the wire - the oil should be at the level of the lower cut of the filler hole (at the bend of the wire). For a Haldex coupling, it is allowed that its fluid level is no more than 3 mm below the lower cut of the filler hole. When checking Haldex coupling oil, it is essential that its temperature is between 20 and 40°C. To determine the oil temperature, you can use a diagnostic tool connected via the DLC connector (see chapter 5).

42. If necessary, add oil through the filler hole. Since filling oil into the Haldex clutch, rear differential or corner gear from under the car is difficult, it is recommended to screw an adapter into the filler hole (And in illustration 4.42a) with knee (IN) and connect to it the filling device VAS6291 with valve (arrow in illustration 4.42b) and a container of oil. Holding the oil container above the filler hole, open the valve and let the oil drain. When the oil stops flowing, and its level is above the control filler hole, place an oil collection container under it, close the valve, disconnect the hose from the adapters and drain the oil remaining in it into the oil collection container. Remove adapters.

43. After filling the corner gear or OAJ manual transmission, tighten its old plug, start the engine and let the transmission run for 2 minutes at idle speed. Then turn off the engine and check the oil level again. Add oil again if necessary.
44. In conclusion, thoroughly clean the relevant unit if it has got oil on it, and tighten the filler plug to the torque specified in the Specifications. Use a new plug for corner gear and rear differential, and use a new plug seal for 02Q manual transmission. For the Haldex coupling, use a new plug with a new seal.
45. Replace the remaining parts.
DSG Transmission Fluid
46. Checking the fluid level of a 6-speed DSG is done when replacing it (see Section 21).
47. There are two areas in the 7-speed DSG that use different fluids. Both of these fluids are filled for the life of the transmission and are not checked or topped up. Fluid replacement in the gear area is described in Chapter 7.
