2. Inspect the anthers (see resist. illustration) for breaks and cracks, as well as loose clamps. In case of cracks or leakage of lubricant, the dust boot must be replaced (see chapter 8).

3. At the same time, check the general condition of the CV joints by holding the shaft and at the same time trying to turn the wheel. Try again while holding the inner CV joint and turning the shaft. Any noticeable play indicates wear on the pivot, wear in the shaft slots, or a loose shaft lock nut.
