Interior finishing panels
1. Interior trim panels are attached with screws or various studs or countersunk fasteners.
2. To remove the panel, carefully inspect it and note how it is attached; there may usually be some external components that will need to be removed first. For example, pockets on door trim panels, armrests/inner door handles and power window levers (photo).
3. After removing external components, make sure that no other panels overlap the one to be removed. For example, when removing the composite panels of a door's interior trim, the top panel must first be removed.
4. Remove all visible fasteners such as screws. If the panel has not yet been released, then it is still secured with hidden latches. They are usually located around the perimeter of the panel, and can be pressed out with a screwdriver; however, please note that these retainers are very fragile. The best way to release such latches is to use a special tool (photo).
5. When removing the panel, never use excessive force, otherwise the panel may be damaged; Always make sure all fasteners have been removed or loosened before attempting to remove a panel.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal; secure the latches by pushing them in and make sure that all disturbed components are properly secured and do not squeak. If glue is found anywhere during removal, remove it with alcohol and use a suitable adhesive when reassembling.
Rugs
7. Car floor mat is one piece and is usually attached with the same fasteners that hold the various adjacent trim panels.
8. The removal and installation of the mat is obvious. but this is very time consuming, as all adjacent trim panels, seats and seat mounts, shift lever guards, and lower seat belt anchors must first be removed.
Ceiling
9. The ceiling is attached to the roof with clips and can only be removed after removing all components located on it (handrails, visors, sunroof control panel, sunroof, windshield, adjacent trim panels and doorway and sunroof seals).
10. Please note that removing the ceiling without damage requires a lot of experience, so it is best to contact a specialist.
