18. The fuel system is most easily checked with the vehicle raised on a lift or supported on axle stands so that the components below are visible and accessible.
19. If the smell of gasoline is noticed during or after driving, the system must be inspected immediately.
20. Remove the filler cap and check its condition. Replace cover if necessary.
21. With the vehicle raised, inspect the gas tank and filler neck for punctures, cracks, or other damage. Especially carefully inspect the connection between the filler neck and the tank.
22. Check all rubber hoses and metal fuel lines coming from the gas tank. Replace damaged parts as needed.
23. Working in the engine compartment, check the reliability of fastenings of all fuel supply hoses. Inspect the fuel and vacuum hoses for kinks, chafing and contamination.
24. Check throttle link action, and lubricate link components.
