1. The condition of the auxiliary drive belt can be checked visually. You should pay attention to the presence of abrasions, cracks, delaminations, etc. Defects. To inspect the ribbed side of the belt, twist it.
2. In order to provide better access to the belt, jack up the right front corner of the car, then unscrew the screws that secure the metal cover covering the belt.
3. To inspect the belt along its entire length, turn the crankshaft by the bolt of its pulley. Inspection is best done from below.
4. In case of defects, the belt must be replaced (see chapter Engine repair).
5. On diesel models, the auxiliary drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner and does not need to be adjusted.
6. Finally, if removed, replace the belt cover, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
