Check of a condition of boots and drums of back brake mechanisms

1. Support the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on jack stands.



2. A quick check of the residual thickness of the friction linings of the shoes can be made through the hole in the shield of the brake mechanism - if equipped, remove the rubber bushing from the hole. Estimation of the thickness of the lining is carried out by pressing against its side surface of the rod, the diameter of which is equal to the minimum allowable thickness of the lining. Use a flashlight if necessary. If wear is below the permissible limit of the lining of at least one of the shoes, all four shoes must be replaced (on both rear brakes).

3. For a more detailed check of the brake components (see chapter Brake system) remove and clean the drum.
