2. Park the vehicle on level ground, paved if possible, and apply the parking brake firmly. In order to provide access, the car can be jacked up or driven onto a flyover / viewing hole (remember to keep it horizontal).
3. Thoroughly wipe the upper part of the manual transmission housing in the area where the speedometer drive assembly is installed.
4. Remove the bolt, remove the mounting plate and remove the speedometer drive assembly from the crankcase (see Section Checking the transmission oil level). Check the condition of the assembly sealing ring, replace if necessary.
5. Wipe the area around the drain plug located at the base of the crankcase, just below the left drive shaft inner CV joint. Place a receiving container under the drain hole and unscrew the plug.
6. Let the oil drain into a drain pan. If the engine was preheated, try not to burn yourself. Wipe the drain plug thoroughly, removing the smallest metal filings from the magnetic insert. Prepare a new sealing washer.
7. When the oil flow stops, clean the threads of the drain plug and the mating one in the crankcase opening. Put on a new sealing washer, then screw in the plug and tighten it to the required torque.
8. Refilling gear oil is time consuming and requires skill. Remember that the car must be installed strictly horizontally.
9. Oil is poured through the hole in the crankcase under the installation of the speedometer drive assembly. Bay in the gearbox specified in Specifications amount of oil of the required grade, check its level (see Section Checking the transmission oil level). If necessary, make adjustments by adding oil accordingly, or pumping out the excess. Reinstall the speedometer drive assembly, then drive the vehicle for a short time to spread fresh oil over the surface of the internal transmission components. Then check the oil level again.
