Note. See the warnings in Section Removing the power unit from the vehicle - preparation and precautions, general information about the suspension of the power unit.
1. The idle boost valve is located at the rear of the engine compartment, near the EGR solenoid valve, and has a gray electrical connector. The device functions when a cold engine is warming up, as well as when the load on the engines increases during the activation of equipment, the operation of which leads to a decrease in normal idle speed (headlights, rear window defroster, etc.). According to the principle of operation, the device can not be compared with a forced air damper on gasoline engines, but rather with an idle speed stabilization device. The procedure for checking the correct operation of the device is described below.
2. Check up correctness of installation of turns of normal idling, in case of need make corresponding correction.
3. Start the engine, then turn on as many electrical consumers as possible.
Note. It is assumed that the vehicle's battery and charging system are functioning properly. The idle speed should not drop noticeably.
4. With the engine warm, disconnect the hose from the vacuum capsule of the booster valve. Turnover should rise to the specified in Specifications values.
5. The possibility of adjusting the device to increase idle speed is not provided. If the valve fails or malfunctions, check the condition of the vacuum hose. Also make sure the drive cable is not twisted. The cable must be adjusted so that there is a slight play between the cable clamp and the actuating lever. A defective valve must be replaced.
