Removing
Note. Reassembly will require a new roll pin for the selector rod.
1. Park the vehicle on a level, level surface, if possible paved. Firmly apply the parking brake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
2. Remove the mounting clamp from the transmission end of the gear selection rod, thereby providing access to the cylindrical pin of the rod on the axis of the manual transmission shift forks.
Note. During assembly, it would be more correct to replace the standard clamp with a screw or worm. Using a punch, knock out the pin - during assembly it must be replaced without fail.
3. Loosen the nut of the selector rod axle bolt to the base of the manual transmission control lever / base plate, then disconnect the front end of the outer rod from the axis of the selector forks in the gearbox and remove the rod from the vehicle. Remove the old axle bush (And) from the shift lever.
4. Unscrew the handle of the manual transmission control lever, release the protective cover from the center console and remove it from the lever.
5. Under the car turn out bolts and remove bracket of a back support of a bar of the mechanism of switching to a body. Remove the rubber support pad - try not to drop the spacers.
6. Turn out a single bolt of fastening of a bar of the mechanism of switching to transmission, remove washers and take a rubber pillow of a support. Remove the shift rod assembly with the manual transmission control lever from under the car.
7. If necessary, the rod can be disconnected from the lever after removing the sealing covers and the retaining ring - try to remember the installation position of all the components to be removed.
8. Thoroughly wipe all removed components and inspect them for signs of wear or mechanical damage. Replace defective parts - most of them are supplied to the automotive market individually.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. Particular attention should be paid to the following points:
- a) Do not forget to lubricate all bearing and rotary components of the gearshift drive with multipurpose grease;
- b) Before screwing in, carefully clean the threads of the rod mounting bolts from the old sealant, then lubricate them with fresh, such as Loctite 270 or Three bond 1305. Make sure that the fasteners are tightened to the required torque;
- c) Thoroughly clean the threads of the selector rod-to-lever bolt. Lubricate it lightly with fresh fixative sealant before screwing it in (see point b). Make sure that the bolt nut is tightened to the required torque;
- d) The fastening of the gear selector rod to the axis of the shift forks must be carried out using a new cylindrical pin. Secure the inserted pin with a screw or worm type clamp.
